FH5, Series 32, Week 2
Treasure Hunt. Drift a clown car. Get three stars. I drifted my Peel P50 very badly and still managed three stars in the Festival drift zone.
I did the weekly in my old favourite from FH4, the Renault 5 Turbo. Ten ultimate wreckage skills in the indefinable Tierra Próspera was a pain. I knew if I kept driving about in an aimless fashion, hoping to find something breakable, I’d complete the task. Is there a good collection of destructible things somewhere there? Otherwise, this was a tedious grind.
I managed to one-shot the airfield danger sign in my Jesko in spite of it going nose up and tail down. Fortunately it landed in just the right place on the far side of the river for this not to matter. One-third good SWS. I PB’ed the drift zone incompetently (although not as incompetently as I drifted the Peel). The SWS was utter rubbish.
I took a photo. I won an infantile reward. That means I can sit here looking huffy and sucking my thumb.
The collectibles were easy to find down the back streets of Playa Azul.
The Holden Torana was summoned for Triple C and once again proved to be an excellent choice. What was the reward? Can’t recall because my lack of desire for it has driven it from my Swiss-cheese memory.
And predictably, it was back to the Extreme E for Unlimited Power, which dominated the races. Reward: Lotus Elan. Is it just me, or do the out-sized wheels on this car make it look ridiculous?
The CJ5 Renegade was a brilliant choice for Jeep, Jeep, coming through. San Juan was largely a no-brake challenge and no changing gears.
The 1998 VW Gti VR6 Mk 3 was a good choice for Hatchback into Action. FWD, bit sluggish, but decent performance overall.
I used the No. 5 Ford Focus RS 1800 for the Trial. All went well till I missed a checkpoint round La Selva, but managed to stay ahead of most of the drivatars and help my team to a win. Apart from my little blunder, it all went very smoothly.
Is it just me or are the lights in the HW expansion weirdly bright? I did the PR stunt, but couldn’t see anything for much of my approach. I wonder whether it was a graphical glitch. I even PB’ed the speed trap. The SWS was rubbish.
For Like my old video games I looked through the eligible cars and lighted on the Audi Sport Quattro because it had the highest PWR. Also, coincidentally, it was specced up for road racing. The first two races went well enough. I half expected the first race to go badly because the drivatars go through the loop and then hit phenomenal speeds, but nothing happened. It was the Twin Loop Speed Circuit where the wheels fell off the shopping trolley. I managed to get to 2nd place and watched a Ford GT70 scream off into the distance as if it had a Carolina Reaper up its arse. I tried again, the GT70 being joined by an 037 Stradale. I switched to the GT70 and did to the drivatars when they’d done to me. This sort of drivatar behaviour is inconsistent and very annoying.
I managed to one-shot the RA PR stunt in my Jesko and got a two-thirds very good SWS.
Making Tracks. B700 Modern rally. Again. The Evo VIII. Again. A sound outing as usual.
The Ginetta G10 RM. A dirty boy?
I tried the Ginetta in some dirt races. Nothing outstanding, but definitely better to drive. It was still a little floaty at times. However, I then switched it back to RWD and took it round the HW Goliath for three laps where it behaved itself.
