FH5, JDM Jewels Car Pack

1993 Autozam AZ-1

Tuning 1/9. 150% XP bonus. Like the GR Yaris, the body kit increases the range of tyre widths that can be installed on the car. Even so, the tyres are rather narrow, and the car tends to lose the back end round corners. Up the Volcán Sprint I struggled to maintain effective control. Aero needs to be set higher, but that probably won’t entire fix the problem. The lightness of the car would also seem to contribute to this issue. The acceleration is very good, and the Autozam (which is apparently a Mazda) redlines at 10,000rpm. Not bad. A 3/5 stars, I think.

1997 Mitsubishi Montero

Again, 1/9 for tuning. A good range of perks. I started with the Titan and spanked the drivatars, although wonder whether the spring settings were a bit too soft. I then tried a dirt build, but forgot about ride height. I eventually grip rolled round San Juan after a lot of two-wheeled moments, but in that race and Teotihuacán (lowered the ride height for this one), I got pestered by that Barbie Hummer, whereas the rest of the drivatars were some distance behind. Another vehicle with a high redline. Is this a property of domestic Japanese cars? A good addition. 4/5 stars.

1997 Nissan Stagea RS Four V

Let’s play Guess Stock Tuning. If you said, “1/9”, you’d be boringly correct. Perks include a 200% XP bonus and a road-racing perk. I tried some road races in A class, and then did the same with the body kit. I’ll be honest, there’s nothing to recommend this. As it’s an estate car, I thought a dirt build might prove to be better (bit like the Ginetta), but it was basically all right on dirt. A 2/5.

1991 Toyota Sera

Yes, exactly, you needn’t ask. Perks include the 150% XP bonus. Yet another car with a very high redline. I won Plaza Circuit by 19 seconds, and lapped a VW Type 2 round Lookout (which is not something I expected to do). Sound performance for an FWD car. 4/5 stars.

Overall, this is a decent car pack. The miss is the Stagea, but the rest are worthy additions to the game. Worth considering.
