FH5, Series 45, Week 4
The game was much less kind this week, and I actually had to do something to complete the treasure hunt.
The weekly challenge was in the Hoonigan F-150, which has the advantage of being AWD. Of course, some wit at PGG had to include the Volcán Sprint, although apart from the wiggly bit (I was too fast into it), I managed not to make a fool of myself. That got me another Sierra 700R as well. Woohoo! Shopping trolleys for everyone.
Time for the PR stunts. One-shotted the danger sign for a one-third good SWS. One-shotted and PB’ed the speed trap for a rubbish SWS (isn’t that always the way?) No, wait, there’s more. Went up a level and got a better wheel spin. I managed to one-shot the drift zone for another rubbish SWS.
Eventlab (1), Crop Circle Stadium Rally. Points on for props. Points off for placement of props because the intermittent tyre bundles were a potential nuisance. Points off for overpowered cars on a go-kart track. Points on for this being limited to two laps.
Eventlab (2), Creek Crossing Circuit. This was another example of a decent intermediate-length circuit. The opening sector was a bit of a pain, but it got better once I was back on the roads in the game. The SWS was one-third very good and one-third excellent.
It was also easy to find the location of the picture in San Sebastian because the decoration marking its location sticks up above the roof of the building.
Took me a couple of attempts to do the HW PR stunt. The Jesko suddenly went nose up on the first run, which ruined that. It then did the same on the second run, but not to my detriment. The SWS was all cars, but nothing interesting.
I’m pretty sure that I’ve previously managed to one-shot the RA PR stunt in a Mustang, but it, too, took a couple of goes to complete. My first run was marred by a jump which I should’ve taken at a lower speed. For the second run I went down the hill to give me a bit more speed. The result was another one-third very good and one-third excellent SWS.
The Trial posed no real problems this week. I was last on the grid for Hilltop Descent and came 1st. I was on the second row for Las Laderas and came 4th. Team win again, and no utterly terrible displays of driving that I could see.
I ended up in Evo vs. Impreza for Horizon Tour. I came 2nd in the Mulegé Scramble and seemed to be in a team of 12-year-olds who either slid round corners into walls or hurled themselves into the walls. The former were more competent than the latter, but there were at least two players who thought shoving was fun. I started from the back in Cascada and came 3rd in spite of making an arse of myself on one corner. My teammates continued to be fast and incompetent. The final race was Mangrove, where I started on the front row and came 1st, leading from the hairpin. My guess was that the other players were too busy larking about to threaten me, but one of them started catching me until I gave a masterful display of cornering which they couldn’t match. I hoped this inspired them to drive better.
Cinco de Mayo next, but also Horizon Realms which, I assume, will provoke an update next Wednesday along with an influx of PS5 players shortly afterwards.
