First catch a cat or dog…

You'll need to have a look at William Hogarth's First Stage of Cruelty. The question is what the other three stages are once you've graduated from cruelty to animals.

Stage 2 Cruelty to children. Obviously, making them eat pumpkin (major human rights violation), cauliflower (who on earth would want to eat the head of a giant, malodorous, mutant flower?) and cabbage (disgusting and smelly).

Stage 3 Cruelty to adults. Making them teach Classes 1 and 2 for three years, and Class 13 for one.

Stage 4 Cruelty to divine beings. (Well, I've run out of humans.)

Apparently (according to Hogarth), the second stage is beating a horse with a stick; the third is murder; and the fourth is being dissected by anatomists after you've been executed. So my guesses were quite close, then.

No MC20, no 911 GT3 RS. Yes, it’s European Automotive Disappointment. I think I typed “update”, but my fingers slipped. Old person problems. The series rewards are the Ferrari 575 M and 2021 Audi RS6. Do I ever drive these? No. Am I excited for their reappearance? No. Week 1 we get dished up the Valkyrie AMR Pro in short order, which is good, but can we have some proper motorsport tracks to race this on? Probably best in the Hot Wheels expansion where the power can be put to good use. I don’t mind the reappearance of the Megane RS 250. Probably the most practical addition of the week is the Lancia Fulvia, which should’ve been copied and pasted with all the rest of the Lancias. I’m hoping that it’ll be as good as it is in Horizon 4. FH5, Series 59, Week 1

I sorted out the weekly in the 458 Italia without any issues. Four rivals events this week. It’s been some time, I think, since we last had EV rivals, which looked to be a regular thing and then disappeared. I must admit that I’d completely forgotten about the Pininfarina Battista. As for the VW, I assume that was marketing. I don’t think I’ve ever driven it outside of Rivals except to take a picture of it for Horizon Promo. Eventlab (1). Coast City Circuit . Night, points off. Props, points on. Layout, a lot of points off. If you thought turn one at Monza was awful, you should try this. Eventlab (2). Dancing Gopher . Too many checkpoints because they kept popping into existence. Also, repeated poor placement of checkpoints ahead of corners. Layout not bad, though. Eventlab (3). Power Plant Surge . FH5, Series 53, Week 1

Now with added Eventlab. This week’s treasure hunt – TB in a Polestar – worked properly. The treasure was over in Ek’ Balam. The weekly in the Audi TT RS posed no problems. I ought to have used the right car for the SZ PR stunt, but you had to do an S1-class race and I couldn’t be bothered faffing round with switching between cars. I went back to the SZ in the right sort of car and one-shotted it for a one-third very good SWS. The DS took a couple of attempts because I needed a slightly longer run-up. SWS was one-third good. I also one-shotted the ST for another one-third good SWS. I did the drift HA and even one-shotted the DZ at the end, which is a first for me, I think. Four Rivals races this week. a.) Bola Ocho in the Fiesta was all right, albeit in the wet. b.) The Camry in Gran Pantano was all right, but the car needs proper building and tuning. c.)
