FH5, Series 22, Week 2

If you’ve built it once, build it several times.

This week’s weekly was a pain not because of the events, but because each one demanded a different build of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII. I had to engine-swap it to get a Hard Charger skill. I have no idea what this entails apart from going fast, but that wasn’t going to happen with the car merely maxed out from stock.

I dealt with the collectibles while I was doing the last part of the weekly. At least this week it was easy enough to spot the piñatas

The Eventlab tiles were both working properly this week. Purple Mountain Raceway was actually quite decent and would’ve been better if the surface had been proper tarmac. Modern sports cars or similar would’ve been better than FFA. Rally Rampage was for extreme off-road vehicles, and yet it was a dirt circuit. Why? It was also dark and foggy with lots of lovely glare from the headlights of my car. One lap would’ve been enough. In fact, I thought I was on my second lap when it transpired that I was still on the first one. The rewards were so worth it: clothing and a horn. All this got me the GMC Syclone. One day I’ll look at it and say, “Yup, still not going to drive it.”

The photo of some antique American banger outside one of the player homes got me some more clothing. Is there some sort of subtle Barbie theme this week? Lots of clothing for dressing up. Yay!

We seem to be back to themed PR stunts. The week it was cult cars. I chose the Gremlin and one-shotted the lot. Couple of decent SWSs and one rubbish one.

For It’s a Custom Job, I specced up the Chevrolet Bel Air (the one you want to drive, not that absolutely ridiculous Hoonigan clown car) which put in an admirable performance to win… a…, er, horn.

I jumped in the Nissan GT-R Nismo LM to drive in We came to race. Yes, I won the races, but I don’t think it was the best choice of car, being too chunky. Solid, but sluggish. I got a Datsun 510, but wouldn’t have minded one of the missing exclusives instead.

The last championship was Play Time, S1 900 track toys. Porsche Cayman GT4 with a Martini livery. Was the reward something sexy? No, it was another old American banger.

The HW PR stunt was one of those water slides. S1 900 Lotus. My Exige was ready to go, to go again, to go a third time etc. before the Forza gods smiled on my feeble efforts. Were we meant to use the Emira to do this? And the SWS was rubbish.

The HW seasonal, Burning Rubber, was A800 HW cars. This is tantamount to being made to drive a stock car. The amount of upgrading that can be done to any of the HW cars in A class is minimal (and I didn’t bother). I ended up back in the Deora which in spite of it being RWD, was a sound performer. I don’t think I’ve touched it since the HW expansion came out. The reward was another horn. I could scarcely contain my indifference.

The PR stunt in Sierra Nueva continued the Lotus theme, but I used the Elise 190 (daß stimmt?) even though it was really set up for road racing. The SWS was rubbish.

The seasonal, A little pick-me-up, was B700 pickups and 4x4s. I picked the GMC Jimmy, but the Jeep CJ5 might’ve been a better choice. Two road races and one dirt race. That made so much sense. Anyway, the Jimmy was a good choice to win some clothing. Someone restrain me. I can feel the spasms of ecstasy building. Actually, I got a decent wheel spin out of it, which was probably worth more than several of this week’s SWSs combined.

Three seasonals in Mexico and one each in the HW theme park and Sierra Nueva are a grind to do, which is made worse when the immediate rewards aren’t really worth it. I also feel I’ve had enough of the game for the moment. I see, though, that one of the dailies is to play at dressing-up. I can’t wait to – slight pause – roll my eyes. In fact, I’m surprised we haven’t got some Barbie outfit, but perhaps that’s the lovely surprise for Series 23.
