FH5, Series 41, Week 3

I’m glad I did some preparation for the weekly challenge in the 1932 Ford De Luxe. Unsurprisingly, this is not a car I ever bother with much. It turns out it’s one of those cars in A class that can hit 1,000hp, but the moment you upgrade the tyres, it flies into S1 class. My first build was undrivable as I was in stock tyres and as I was attempting the danger sign at the airfield, I chucked on AWD and off-road race tyres, which worked nicely. The jump does need a decent run-up, which can be done by going up the hill and using the extra momentum. The only problem was that I had to buy a new De Luxe because the first task was to spend CR50,000 on upgrades. At least it’s a cheap car and I didn’t have to do the HW seasonal to get a new one. (Aside: that seasonal would be a bloody waste of time for such a cheap reward.)

At least the showcase remix was the most familiar of them. I got some ridiculous clothing that’d make me look like one of those poor unfortunates who stands outside a shop trying to entice customers with small children to go in.

I one-shotted the danger sign in the FE 911 and got a one-third very good SWS. The car was too slow for the speed trap, and I switched to the Cerbera, starting at the last corner of the dirt section of Mangrove Scramble for a one-third excellent SWS.

I got the new BMW after taking a photo which rewarded me with a horn which if I used it in the game would announce to the world that I’m an utter plonker. I don’t need a horn to show what a plonker I am. I have done a few races in the M5 CS, including one with an engine swap (the Audi V10). Not recommended, but the car seems all right once it loses some weight.

I did the collectibles at the stadium.

Eventlab (1). Crimson Lanes Street Race. Nighttime. Confusing layout with a checkpoint that switched between one part of the lap an another. Why do so many creators have circuit layouts that overlap in the least useful fashion. Take a circle, you complete clowns, and deform it, and if you insist on a crossover, make the intersection explicit on the mini map; and in the same vein, sufficient separate parallel parts of the track so that they can also be seen on the mini map. On the other hand, the use of props in this event was absolutely top-of-the-form.

Eventlab (2). El Circuito de Guanajuato. This one started well when I fast travelled into an HA which was on the verge of starting. My view this layout lies somewhere between “I need practice” and “This is sodding irritating”. 2nd-3rd-2nd-2nd-2nd-3rd. I picked the 2007 (?) Honda Civic (the black one), which had terrible braking and couldn’t take corners, and in spite of making sure that the drivatars weren’t going to inconvenience me, I got pestered by an ID4. I did at least get a one-third good SWS at the end of it.

I one-shotted the HA PR stunt and got an SWS that was two-thirds very good, and an FE Sesto Elemento. Recently, I thought I really must keep the next FE Sesto Elemento that I get from a wheel spin; and then I checked my garage and found I somehow had three of them, hence this one got sold.

I just managed to one-shot the RA PR stunt in the Holden Torana. The SWS was terrible, but I went up a level and got CR250,000 from the wheel spin.

I picked the 2021 Nissan GT-R for the Trial. I was on the second row of the human grid for Ruta Norte and managed a 3rd in spite of some drivatar trying to pull a fast one close to the finish line. Team win. I started Las Afueras in exactly the same position as the first race and came 3rd again. I haven’t done this race in some time, which made the Guanajuato section a bit fraught, which is where I lost 2nd place to a drivatar. It was a team win and a 3rd Project One.

MB E55 AMG

I did ten circuit races in this car. Overall, a decent old banger against the drivatars, but I’d prefer the Hammer Wagon. Ought to be intended for dirt racing, but I assume that this is like most SUVs in that it never ever goes off road or ever leaves an urban environment. Probably mostly bought by people who have dogs or like to go dogging [Is that like walking dogs? –ed.]
