FH5, Series 41, Week 4

The treasure hunt was easy money with the Polaris <insert particular model here> easily dealing with the speed trap.

The 2012 Mini was a bit floaty for the weekly challenge and really needed more aero. I had to “cheat” Rivals by spending up another previously unused Street Scene event. The gods alone know what I’d do if I was a Rivals try-hard.

I used the Apollo IE to do the PR stunts. Took me a couple of goes to get the Tulum speed trap, which got me an SWS which was one-third good and two-thirds shite. I one-shotted the East Resort speed trap. Another one-third good SWS. Took me three attempts to do the speed zone and utterly smash my PB. I know wat to do, but it’s a case of doing it. A third SWS that was one-third good. There’s definitely a theme this week.

I took a photo. I got another stupid item of clothing.

Another week with a single Eventlab. Anni’s Harbour was another night race (why?). Good props, but not the most interesting circuit with straights typically followed by 90° corners which were often preceded or followed by slopes. Annoying.

For Horizon Tour, I ended up doing races in rods and customs. I randomly selected the Chevrolet Utility Sedan, but was in races against a Twin Mill, Boneshaker, and 1932 Ford De Luxe. I came 3rd round Bahía de Plano. The other prestige 7 player in the series was in the Twin Mill, which he struggled to handle and eventually quit. I watched him corner with the greatest incompetence as we travelled between races. The player in the Boneshaker barely featured, and a player in a Bel Air struggled to control his car. Another player in a 1932 Ford De Luxe was rubbish at taking corners. I was 5th round the Emerald Circuit because I got shoved slightly wide at a checkpoint, although I don’t believe there was any malicious intent. I was so far ahead of the drivatars that it didn’t matter. There was some compensation in Mulegé because at the end of the race I appeared to have come 3rd, but got awarded 2nd. I’d followed the clown in the De Luxe, passing him on corners after which he’d immediately dart away.

I did the seasonals this week. For Snow Business we had to drive iconic movie cars, another vague and somewhat baffling category which included that EV Mini (featured in what film?) I started with the AM DB5, but regretting my choice, switched to the 1969 Camaro SS, which was a much better choice. More ridiculous clothing.

I was back in the 1971 Nissan Skyline GT-R for Festive-al Racers. Overall, there were no real issues, not even in the dreadful Reservorio.

The Trial saw me in my trusty 2016 BMW M2. In Tunnel Run I started on the second row of the human grid and came 2nd. It was just enough for us to win the race. There were only three of us left in Bosque del Sur. I started on the front row this time and came 2nd again because the drivatars were a little weird late in the race, and I was able to pass them and then hold one off. The third player was last and got DNF’ed, but our win was more convincing. A third 2019 911 GT3 RS.

I picked the 2018 Subaru WRX STi for the drift zone in the HW expansion. One-shotted with incompetence and got rewarded with a well-deserved rubbish SWS.

I used the 1932 Ford De Luxe (yes, it’s that car again) for the RA PR stunt as it was specced up for dirt/off-road racing. It took me three attempts because I needed a much longer run-up to the danger sign than I realised. What did I get? Scurf… Sorry, a 100% good SWS.
