FH5, Series 45, Week 1
I had to switch to the Fiat Abarth 131 to complete the treasure hunt. The Desert Flyer was too underpowered to fling about the place.
The weekly passed through my life without leaving a scar. I did the air skills by going back and forth over the same ridge not far from the main festival site.
One-shotted the danger sign (one-third good SWS), but the speed zone took a couple of attempts in that FE Nissan. Another one-third good SWS. I PB’ed the Trailblazer (which we only did last week or sometime recently) by doing the usual thing of an oblique entry to follow the road rather than barge my way ineptly through the trees. The SWS ended up being one-third very good and one-third excellent.
Eventlab (1). Don Joe Won Song’s Utopia Gardens Recension. Top-quality use of props, but I did exactly what I did the last time, crashing into the barrier in the beach section (twice) because of the lack of any visual indicators as to the route.
Eventlab (2) was Castillo Scramble. Judicious use of props, but slidey conditions (a theme which you’ll see repeated in the Trial). The SWS was one-third good.
I forgot it was Rivals week again. The 700R was like a shopping trolley powered by a lawnmower engine, although I well outdrove my rival. Another novelty car in the game and useless in cross country because it gets flung about so easily. I did La Selva in no time, leaving my rival in that race far behind.
I didn’t know what to use for the Trial and settled on the 2004 Impreza on the basis of a recommendation on the forums. At least I remembered that it was Street Scene (sigh) and built and tuned the car accordingly. But once again this was a championship with little scope for doing anything much to any of the candidate cars in the game, and finding that the first two races would be in wet conditions, I knew what’d probably happen. I was on the back row for Granjas de Tapalpa. 90° right-hander. I miss the braking zone and slide past the checkpoint, but don’t miss it. Looks like I’m going to be 6th or 7th. A team win is possible, but it’s on a knife edge. However, other players are sliding and actually missing checkpoints or sliding deep into corners, and I manage a 3rd. As I’m doing this, I see a drivatar decide that corners and checkpoints are infra dig. as it ploughs straight ahead across a field more or less in the direction of the finish line. I was on the front row for Callejera and came 2nd by not making an arse of myself on the corners. Late overtake on a couple of drivatars. Team win for a third 2018 Civic.
I stuck with my Impreza for the HA.
I forgot that the car to use for the RA PR stunt was the TZ2. Sketchy handling, but got the job done for a terrible SWS.
I ought to stick with the Jesko for S2 speed traps in the HW expansion, but I chose the F40 Competizione first. The SWS was rubbish and entirely eclipsed by the wheel spin I got afterwards for going up a level.
