FH5, Series 18, Week 4

Really, game? You’re going to work properly this time?

At lunchtime I fired up Horizon 5 which… actually worked first time. I did the treasure hunt and the weekly (just to be on the safe side), and the photo challenge.

There was an nVidia update this afternoon. FH5 spluttered abruptly, but worked on the second attempt after the driver update.

I did the daily and ended up doing Street Scene races in Horizon Open. Muffed Jungle Descent by dodging traffic and missing a checkpoint which I didn’t even see. Didn’t come last and just managed to avoid getting DNF’ed.

The first Eventlab event was an interesting mashup round the Mangrove Scramble. The second Eventlab event was all right, but nothing to get me overly excited.

I PB’ed the danger sign and the drift zone, and one-shotted the speed trap across country in a Jesko.

Horizon Tour was curious. In the first race I was in my FE Puma behind a driver in an FE Puma who was fast but kept slamming into walls. Looks like they were have connection problems before they fell over through the final dirt sector before the finish line, thus allowing me to win. I then came 2nd in Tulum and Barranca, leaving other players somewhere out of sight behind me. Most unusual.

I used the FE 911 for the Gauntlet (which was also that whole seasonal championship). Not a great race because I kept sliding into walls like some incompetent clown.

The prize for the other seasonal was the Rally Fighter, which looks the business, but is a slidey barge.

Then it was off to the HW Theme Park, where I PB’ed the speed zone.

I started the seasonal in the Brabham BT62, but had problems winning the first race because of a miraculously fast Ariel Atom. I switched to the Atom and had a much less torrid time of it.

Anyway, that was enough to get this week’s cars. Series done. I shan’t bother with the Eliminator because a.) it’s likely to crash the game and b.) I hate the Eliminator.

The second expansion is a few days away, but when they say the 29th of March, that’s probably only in America because they’re rubbish at understanding they’re a day behind pretty much all the rest of the world. I wish the 29th meant my actual 29th from midnight, but it won’t.

And just to make things a bit worse, it’s the mocks next week which will mean a lot of tedious invigilating and tiresome marking when I should be grinding my way through Sierra Nueva to unlock a bunch of cars which don’t overly interest me.
