FH5, Series 34, preview
Move along, nothing much to see here.
All right, the 2021 Lamborghini Countach is a welcome addition. I’m hoping that there might be something else that turns out to be a nice surprise. The Citroen BX4TC is apparently a failed Group B rally car, but might be all right on dirt. I can’t imagine the 1986 BMW M6 will be much different from other BMWs of the period (probably right down to the tuning and the perks; #CopyandPaste).
I tried the Lotus Esprit in FH4 last night and found to my surprise that I must’ve driven it fairly recently because I didn’t need to retune it. It wasn’t bad to drive, but struggled to get away from the drivatars in the Colossus by a decent margin. I must try the BMW 850CSi again as well, but I didn’t think much of it the last time and doubt whether I’ll like it better this time.
The motorway decorations will sync to your music, but that can be switched off. Might work well with the yoof stations or the new station, but perhaps not with Radio Eterna.
I wonder whether there will be a focus on Street Scene races or a lot of the racing will be at night so that we can be annoyed by all the neon lights. Did I say “annoyed”? I meant “irritated”. They’re not even spelt the same way. Prediction: an Eventlab event with neon lights in the rain so that if you drive in cockpit view, you can’t see anything.
As for the new station, I’ve never heard of synthwave, which, I guessed, was some sort of 80s music that I missed out on at the time. In fact, it’s 21st-century music which is done in an 80s style. I listened to a little on YouTube. Sounded like music to a cheesy sci-fi B-movie that was a bad ripoff of Star Wars. Repetitious, I thought – before listening to “Head over Heels” by Tears for Fears.
No car pack, but that’s not a bother. We’ve funded FM8 a bit more.
Series 35
Could be interesting. A lot of the so-called modern cars in FH5 are ageing, having been modern in FH1 or 2, and quite a number of cars, it seems, are discontinued models which have probably been replaced by something newer that’s never made it into the game. Or we’re going to get some contemporary versions of cars that are still in production, but the latest model in the game is from 2015.
I wonder what the highly requested car will be. I went to the forums this morning and sorted posts by number of views. Top of the pops is the Fiat Uno followed by four other dull, domestic bangers before we get to the SLR McLaren, although this is an older car which, I think, doesn’t really suit the series theme.
