FH5, Series 40, Week 4, The Trial

And Horizon Open.

Yes, I know I said I wasn’t going to bother, but I was also curious to see how my Opel Manta might fare in the Trial. We started with Fuera del Camino, which I’ve never much liked. I started on the middle row of the human grid and came 3rd in spite of some atrocious cornering on the sharp turns. I was a bit too fast into the first one and think that I pulled away from the rest of the team because I wasn’t making such an arse of myself as they were. El Pípila was the same. Mid pack start and 3rd place. I could’ve taken 2nd because the player in second was incompetent at cornering (all of them), but as humanity was winning by a large margin and as there was no threat from the drivatars, I let him keep the place.

I missed the previous set of Horizon Open races and started on the second row of the grid round Bahía de Plano. I came 4th in my 2021 911 GT3 because other players were busy botching corners. I was on the second row again for Vista del Mar. Some sliding into the corners and managed a 5th. In the San Juan Sprint, I was on the fourth row of a full grid. Came 6th, which was helped by two players going off at the first bridge on the approach to the stadium. I probably did better at that penultimate corner of San Juan, which is likely to hurt if you take it too fast.

As I said, the car was a slidey boy, which reminded me that although the stock aero is tunable, Forza aero is better, which is annoying because the rear wing doesn’t suit the car at all.
