FH5, Series 43, Week 1

Treasure hunt. Burn some rubber, skid or something like that out at the airfield. The treasure chest is near the start of the San Juan Scramble.

The weekly in the 1965 Pontiac GTO was uneventful.

On the other hand, a D-class 1965 Pontiac GTO was a pain i’ th’ arse because the car had sod-all handling when I was attempting the Mulegé danger sign on stock tyres. Three tries for a one-third good SWS. I one-shotted the speed trap on the bridge by approaching it from the Ek’ Balam side and using the pavement inside the tunnel to help. Rubbish SWS.

Then it was time for a pic. I got a scarf. It’s years since I’ve acquired a new scarf. Now there’s something FH6 should have – a clothing editor. I must suggest this at once.

Eventlab, Rally of the Ancient Ruins, was actually a good idea, incorporating deliberately or otherwise, parts of Teotihuacán and other dirt races.

I forgot that this was Rivals week. Granjas de Tapalpa in the 2022 Dodge Challenger Super Stock. Too much power, too fat, iffy handling, terrible brakes. It was Sierra Verde for the new “Mustang”. Marginally better than the Dodge, but nothing to provoke little spasms of excitement. The suspension was spongy.

I went with the Mustang RTR Spec 5 for the Trial after testing some of the older Mustangs in the game. I was on the second row in Hilltop Descent and managed a 3rd. Team loss. Callejera. I started last. I won. Team loss. We went to the third race, which was Las Laderas. Another back row start for me and another 3rd. Team win. We won the series (thanks, of course, to Forza counting). There was drivatar weirdness, human cornering issues, and checkpoint problems.

I managed to one-shot the HW PR stunt in the Czinger in spite of taking the jump so fast that I landed near the following corner. Rubbish SWS.

I also one-shotted the RA PR stunt in the Shelby Cobra in spite of doing this uphill from the Festival site. Another rubbish SWS.

I know I said I wasn’t going to do the seasonals, but I did to get the Backstage Pass [Which you don’t need, you idiot. –ed.] I used the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V for Caddy Power. Nothing to report apart from perpetual night. Oh dear God, a drag-racing seasonal?! I picked the 1972 Ford Falcon for Drag, you’re it! because it was the only AWD car in the right category. Thankfully, a short-lived series of races. For Chevy Lifting, I chose the Colorado ZR-2. This was a mistake because the vehicle barely has any scope for building it and I’d overlooked the K10. In the first two races, the lack of decent tyres nearly did for me, and in the last, I switched to the K10, which I ought to have used all along.

I tried the Challenger Super Stock. Fat barge, overpowered, nothing special.

And finally, it turns out that FH5 is being released on Play Station. It seems a little late in the day, but might be an attempt to prime the pumps for FH6 also being released on PS5.
