FH6, Series 7, Preview
I knew the detail for the next series would probably be here today (i.e., the usual day late because of the Americans being a day behind the rest of the world). The article on forza.net starts by trumpeting an IKEA prop pack (assembly required?) (and here was me thinking this was meant to be a car racing game). I see these will include the infamous Billy bookcase.
The two new races are the Edo Circuit Road Race and the Shuto Charge Street Race. I suddenly thought last night that they’d both be Street Scene. Phew!
The three new cars are the 2016 Honda S660 Alpha (never heard of it; and is there nothing more up-to-date they could’ve added?), the 2025 Citroën Ami (another novelty car; Citroën marketing: Il est un petite vache “It’s a great marketing opportunity”) and the 1987 Fiat Panda. Well, there are three cars I’ll probably never drive more than once. I’m sure the Ami is likely to rival other EVs for the title of least competitive car in the game.
The not-so-new cars are some 2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta (from FH2) and the Hillman Imp (which was in FH4, I think).
The car pass cars include the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD, the 2025 VW Electric Buzz (leave the Type 2 alone, you bastards), the 1983 Nissan 240 RS (some sort of rally car), and the 2025 Porsche Macan GTS (about bloody time; as much as I’m not a van of SUVs, this was my favourite in FH5).
More badges and horns. I’m sure all the 12-year-old players won’t sleep a wink from the excitement of it.
The number of points required to unlock cars has been reduced, but that seems aimed more at the game pass crowd (?) I’ve done the full Monty every week so far not because I’m OCD about completing the Festival playlist, but because it’s doable now that those stupid PGG events have gone; or I wouldn’t have 100% completion.
We’re getting a Halo-themed version of the GR GT Concept car, and we can dress up like Master Chef too – just like the Great British Bake Off [D’you mean ‘Master Chief’? –ed.]
That irritating karting track is back in the stadium.
There’s some new garage filter for Festival playlist cars, but what it actually does, I’m not sure. I hope that it’ll show me which cars from novel categories are eligible for seasonals and PR stunts because that’s been a massive hole in Horizon games.
The PR stunt leader boards are getting wiped. I hope, though, that it won’t mean having to waste time doing them all over again. The difficult DZs in particular are something I don’t want to have to ever repeat.
Anyway, I’ll ad a couple of short notes about this week’s cars before heading back to Japan.
1968 Holden Monaro GTS
I tried this on tarmac and dirt. I thought it might be an alternative to the Torana, but I’d describe it as a sound performer instead.
2024 MB AMG G 63 4Matic+
(Well, there’s a name that trips off the tongue.) AWD, usual sort of understeer issues, but like the Holden, it’s all right. Another car that I’m only likely to drive on rare occasions.
