FH5, Let’s go backwards
And go where the game randomly tells me to go.
My plan was to go back to Mexico to race the various Huracáns in the game, but I then recalled that there were the rest of the oval circuit accolades to be done, which then distracted me from the daily (which I did later on).
Some of the accolades could be done in free roam. I cheesed the burnout skills accolade by switching my overpowered Nissan Pulsar to RWD and driving it against one of the barriers on the circuit.
However, several of the accolades had to be done in races, which meant doing the oval race over and over and over until at some random point you completed the accolade. I tried to complete the awesome speed skills accolade with the Jesko, the Agera RS and the MB CLK GTR, and eventually got it, but the Koenigseggs kept understeering into the outer wall of the track, and nothing seemed consistently able to hit the right speed.
The accolade to get some awesome speed skills highlighted why the game needs some sort of comprehensive in-game manual because I have no idea what an awesome speed skill is. I consulted the Internet, but support only defines speed skills in the very vaguest terms, and everything after that is a guess. I assume that an ultimate speed skill is 320kmh, and awesome is probably 300kmh. No, they must be under 300kmh because I never managed to hit that speed.
When the car respawned in the world between races, the game decided that I’d set my route to the PGG icon alongside the stadium even though I’d not done that. A new bug, I assume, possibly to do with pinning accolades.
Now that the accolades for the oval circuit are done, I doubt whether I’ll ever bother with it again. It might be a good place to test and tune steering, but apart from that, I have no idea why I’d ever do the race again unless it turns up as a daily challenge or as an event in a weekly one.
Having done all the oval circuit accolades, I almost quit the game, but decided to persist with the races in the Huracáns. So far, dear reader, I’ve been almost entirely immune to the reverse bug, but I was now infected by it, thus completely ruining my gaming experience. I eventually tried a different transmission setting, which was when I noticed that LC was off. I don’t recall switching LC off and have to admit a couple of days ago when I saw LC mentioned on the forums, I couldn’t immediately recall that it meant “launch control”. I turned it back on and races now proceeded as they ought to have – forwards.
By this point, though, I’d had enough of FH5. Overall, these accolades took a lot of time to complete for which the returns were paltry, and by the time I’d done with them and corrected the problem which they subsequently caused, I couldn’t be bothered.
