FH5, Series 31, Week 3
The treasure hunt was a matter of doing a jump in the Esseesse, which even in D class managed to complete the task.
The weekly in the Renault Clio Williams was easy money.
Eventlab (1). Nelipo Track (Night). Not bad, but the layout on the mini-map had annoying overlaps. Although courses might crossover parts, the path should otherwise be discrete so as not to annoy me… I mean, annoy players. There was also on weirdly placed checkpoint ahead of a sharp left, but I wonder whether like last week, this was meant to mark the braking zone.
Eventlab (2). FBMR GP8 Ram Jam. What an absolutely opaque title for a decent track based in Guanajuato.
Eventlab (3). Link City Full Throttle. I assume the idea was shortcuts, but that only works when you know the course. Otherwise, utterly ludicrous. The SWS was one-third good.
I got the HA done, which is much less bothersome, although in the second round several other players appeared, which had me worried that I might be doing all the work on behalf of a bunch of layabouts.
I ended up using the new SL63 for the PR stunts which even without any upgrades (and bugger all tuning; 1/9) one-shotted one of the speed traps (the massive nuisance one on the road down into Copper Canyon) and nailed the drift zone. The SWSs were two-thirds good, one-third good, and absolute rubbish.
I went for the Elise Sport 190 for Lotus Leaf. Street Scene, but two of the races were in daylight. Carretera again? I won, but not by much from the drivatars. Cruce de Valle was a sound win, but Costa Rocosa not quite as good. I wanted the Esprit so that I could take a piccie of it. After that, the car went back to the garage where I’ll look at it on odd occasions and say, “No, not today.”
I chose the Koenigsegg CC8S for Sand Speeders in three races that I know well. Good wins in all of them, and a very good wheel spin at the end of it.
I did a Horizon Open custom race to deal with that particular task. Drove incompetently, but I’ve not been playing FH5 much this week beyond doing the dailies. I’ve been feeling lethargic.
More Street Scene for the Trial. I was expecting the drivatars to be major pains, but they were less irksome than expected. Castillo del Mar seemed to be going well until I got knocked out of a checkpoint. I needed to make a move on a slower driver who, I think, was incompetent rather than malicious. I quit and restarted. 1st in Castillo (team win) and 3rd after two annoying drivatars in El Lago Blanco (team loss… no, team win; gee, thanks, Forza counting!) This was in spite of two players getting scoring nothing, but I noticed at the start of the second race, they seemed more interested in sabotaging each other’s efforts. Asses.
The HW speed zone was another shining example of my own incompetence. I managed to one-shot it and got properly punished with an absolute awful SWS.
I decided to use the Jesko for the oddly named Koen of Phrase. Three terrible performances on my part, although some of that could be blamed on the car’s aero being set as low as possible. Another 2016 Cayman GT4, which is a car I like. It’s also a car I got from a wheel spin earlier in this session.
Off to Sierra Nueva. The PR stunt. I flew through the air with the greatest of ease. Forza counting said, “0.81m.” Did the stunt again; job done. Another rubbish SWS.
For Round the Benz I drove the Porsche Macan to three sound victories. More incompetent driving for my part.
