FH5, Series 37, Week 2
The weekly posed no real problems.
I managed to one-shot the PR stunts in the 2018 Ford Mustang GT. Northern Passage, which I’d been practising was a skin-of-the-teeth job. Didn’t we do Ring Road as the speed zone last week? Or very recently? I had one SWS that was one-third good and the rest were rubbish.
The picture of the new Ford Focus got me a pair of boots. Mmmm, high fashion.
I ended up in my Hummer EV for Horizon Tour. One 1st place and two 2nds. I managed a last minute 2nd place round Herencia from being able to take corners properly.
Only one Eventlab this week, Hill Valley Run, which is why it seemed that it took no time to get through the Festival playlist. Good use of props on a course that I thought was a rally stage only for it to turn out to be a long, narrow circuit that resembled a rally stage. At least it wasn’t some piece of insane spaghetti. The rewards was another bloody 2010 VW Golf.
I smashed the collectibles. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, I counted. 1, 2, 3, 4, the game counted. I managed to find two more in the park and my job was done.
My practice for B Fast B Furious (Street Scene; scream!) in the 2022 Mazda Miata had gone well enough, and I was confident that I’d chosen the right car. Wetland Charge was an absolute nightmare on the sharp corners because the car kept going. Yes, I should probably have added aero, but in testing, all had been well. I had the same issue in Jungle Descent. In Bosque del Sur the problem was a pesky drivatar in an RX-8. This is the sort of seasonal I loathe. Street Scene for one thing and racing cars that are barely better than stock. Result: frustration. Irony: in testing I kept wondering why I was struggling to win Wetland Charge. I then check the level of difficulty and found that the drivatars were set to Pro. I like the Lotus Exige, but I don’t need three of ’em.
It was back to the 2016 BMW M2 for Saloon Go Vroom (sounds familiar; recycled?) EVs shouldn’t be allowed in races with normal cars. An AWD Audi proved to be a right pain up the Volcán Sprint.
There seemed to be quite a number of contenders for the Trial. I ended up opting for the Vauxhall Corsa VXR. I also guessed that all the races were going to be in Guanajuato. I started mid pack round Cathedral and won by a decent margin. I’ll say it again – cornering skills. I dislike Panorámica at the best of times, but I was on the front row of the human grid and thought that I might be in with a good chance of a second win. No. Got round the first turn and was heading up the hill when the demon of carnage stepped in and slammed me into a wall. I think that the other players were to blame as they tried to barge their way past the drivatars, and I ended up in last. I made my way through the field and was competing for 3rd, but the player in a green Ford Focus (who rather annoyingly and needlessly kept announcing, “Look out!”) was just a bit too fast in a straight line for me to stay ahead. I kept passing him on the corners, but didn’t have to deal with any of the iffy driving that the other contender for 3rd had displayed.
I one-shotted the HW PR stunt in my BMW X6 and got an SWS that was two-thirds good.
I’m sure Hyped Up is another repeat screening. I’m sure I used my Zenvo TSR-S the last time, too. I managed to taking the hairpin in the Ram’s Head Sprint without making a complete arse of myself. Yes, you’re right, this was another week of third cars in my garage.
The RA PR stunt was easy enough in my BMW X6 M.
The seasonal, Cantera Commute, was B700, <insert unfamiliar car category for which you can’t search> and add AWD. I chose the Audi S1. Wondered about aero during the course of the races, but I was probably better off without it. Yet again, two of the races were Devil’s Pass and The Narrows.
2023 Toyota Camry TRD
I’ve tried this in B and A class. Too chunky in B class, but did well enough round Mulegé. Bit better in A class. I haven’t tried it with the body kit, but the rear wing is merely cosmetic. Grrr! Might be worth trying on dirt.
