FH5, Series 54, Week 3
Another week starting with the weekly, this time in the Vūhl 05RR. Too light, too prone to sliding in road races. I used my S2-class, AWD one to do the DS. I’ve nearly hit 150,000 FPs. Well, I did spend some on that idiotic Father Christmas beard in the Forzathon shop.
The Eventlab, It’s a Big Christmas, gets full marks for props, but not for the layout of the circuit with its crossovers. I had to stop at one to let the drivatars past or risk getting broadsided.
Another photo of a snowman. What did I get? Amnesia. I can’t recall. [I can’t recall who she is, either. –ed.]
It took me a couple of attempts to do the ST. I knew what to do (i.e., drive across the fields), but went over the crest of a hill the first time, which slowed me down. A one-third very good SWS. I knew the SZ was going to be a particular pain and eventually PB’ed it in my S2-class International Scout (S2 906). Again, I knew what I ought to be doing, but couldn’t quite get it right until I tapped my way through the technical sections, which was the only way I could maintain a decent amount of speed. The SWS was a bucket of barf.
The collectibles are all round the area of the caldera, not just the telescope.
I one-shotted the HW PR stunt in the Jesko. Three cars from the SWS, but nothing interesting.
The RA PR stunt was the jump where I start from the riverbed. I upgraded one of my Opel Mantas to the top of S1 class and then kept missing the jump itself (bloody typical) before PB’ing it. One-third good SWS.
Didn’t know what might be good for the Trial. Started out in the 2001 Audi RS4 Avant, but abandoned the first series because of three laggards at the rear of the field. I switched to my 1991 BMW M3, which wasn’t ideal, being too slow and sluggish. 4th round Emerald and 5th round Estadio. All I could offer this week was support. I had a drivatar shove me into a wall twice past the hotel in Emerald or might’ve been able to claim a 3rd. I did rebuild the car afterwards and got something better out of it even with upgraded tyres. Also, there were probably other retro saloons that might’ve been worth considering, but are currently in different classes, and I can’t be bothered rebuilding them.
Once again, I needed to do a seasonal. It was back to the Opel Manta in All the Trimmings, and three solid thrashings for the drivatars.
Well, FM8 is officially dead. I continue to wonder whether any features from that might appear in FH6, but suspect the game will be more of the same, with elements of Forza Motorsport being under the proverbial bonnet. We should find out a little more in January.
I saw some post on the forums demanding FM8 physics in FH6, but unless the physics have been improved since I saw that early review by Ermin Hamidovich (in essence, “even the LMP cars are losing traction”), I’d hope it never happens. I think FH4 had better physics for road racing than FH5, whereas FH5 is way too drift-friendly. I fear that FH6 is going to end up being Japan ∴ drifting all the time.
