FH5, Series 48, Week 3

No treasure hunt, but I combined the collectibles with the daily.

I took a picture. I got an orange suit. Gods, I feel so sexy that my underpants have melted. No, wait, that’s the effects of the heatwave.

The weekly challenge was in the 2010 Nissan 370Z. Fortunately, I had a new one, which I could build to complete the first event. I did the drift zone challenge in two goes, probably using the same car I used the last time. I used another Street Scene race for Rivals. My opponent had a dirty time, which mean I didn’t have to win to get the job done.

My 1997 BMW M3 was still the same car from the last time I had to use it for the PT stunts. The ST is easily doable from the west even in a car that’s mostly stock. The SWS was one-third good and one-third very good. I managed to one-shot the SZ even though I crashed through the armco. One-third very good SWS. The DZ was a pain because I cannot drift for sustained distances in RWD cars. I was rubbish. The SWS was rubbish.

Eventlab (1). Plynthcraft – Race 2. Micro car madness was the category. Ah, yes, another well-known, novel category. Anyway, I used the 1965 Mini Cooper and lapped two drivatars, one of which got trapped on the kerb. Decent use of props to create a sort of Egyptian-themed map. Not a fan of the layout. The SWS was rubbish.

Eventlab (2). Calypso Coastline. I probably used the BMW 850 CSi the last time I did this. (Was there a last time?) Nice, flowing, intermediate-length circuit with effective use of props. The reward was a horn. Parp, parp or what, darlings!

Eventlab (3). Grounds Raceway GP. When I see things such as S1 900 modern supercars, I know that the event is probably on a go-kart track. I was right. This track was all the technical bits that were missing from the first two in cars that were ill-suited to it. The surface was also that annoying metal one which seems to be a tarmac substitute.

Once again for the HW PR stunt I was in the same 2018 Audi TT RS as last time with it’s 1,270hp engine. Seriously, game? Seriously this thing is still in A class in spite of ridiculous amounts of power? The SWS was one-third good.

I one-shotted the RA PR stunt in spite of the nose of the car drooping as it descended towards the ground like a pigeon turd made of lead. Rubbish SWS.

For the Trial I chose the 1969 Chevrolet Nova Super Sport because it was already A800. 1st round Plaza Circuit, although I think the player in 1st deliberately let me past because I was faster on this more technical circuit. Once again, I won by a decent margin, but it was a team win. A couple of players lagged behind, but the rest of the support from the team was solid. I wasn’t expecting to win Playa Azul, which favours cars with oomph. I did at least manage a 2nd, and again, team support was sound.

In employment news, MS has sacked about 9,000 people whose jobs can allegedly be done by AI. About half of Turn 10 staff have gone, but I’ve not seen anything official about what sort of posts have been axed. One comment on Ericship111’s video was admin got the chop, but if about half of Turn 10’s roster was admin, what were they all doing (apart from probably being unhelpful)? I don’t imagine this will overly affect the development of FH6 which, I assume, MS will expect to be ready to go when the xbox celebrates its 25th anniversary.
