FH5, Series 53, Week 1

Now with added Eventlab.

This week’s treasure hunt – TB in a Polestar – worked properly. The treasure was over in Ek’ Balam.

The weekly in the Audi TT RS posed no problems. I ought to have used the right car for the SZ PR stunt, but you had to do an S1-class race and I couldn’t be bothered faffing round with switching between cars.

I went back to the SZ in the right sort of car and one-shotted it for a one-third very good SWS. The DS took a couple of attempts because I needed a slightly longer run-up. SWS was one-third good. I also one-shotted the ST for another one-third good SWS.

I did the drift HA and even one-shotted the DZ at the end, which is a first for me, I think.

Four Rivals races this week. a.) Bola Ocho in the Fiesta was all right, albeit in the wet. b.) The Camry in Gran Pantano was all right, but the car needs proper building and tuning. c.) El Pípila in the Durango was a reminder of what a bloated, pointless barge it is. I think the only times I’ve driven this model are the Rivals events, and for extra annoyance, the task failed to register the first time, and I had to repeat it.  d.) Again, I don’t think I’ve ever driven the Lucid Air Sapphire (Dunas Blancas) outside of Rivals events. Another dreadful, overpowered barge that handles like a fat nun on roller skates round a karting track.

The obvious choice for the HW PR stunt was the GTC4 Lusso as it was the previous time. I had to do some rebuilding to get the car up to speed. The SWS was two-thirds good.

For the RA PR stunt, once again that extremely irritating SZ, I switched to the Aston Martin Vantage and somehow one-shotted it for a one-third very good SWS in spite of the car’s ropey handling.

I did the Trial in a revised Audi S1 even though I then discovered I already had a B700 Audi, which would probably have been perfectly serviceable. No matter. Pole for Sierra Verde, but 4th because of everyone’s excellent cornering skills at turn one. I thought I was 3rd, but there must’ve been some rocket ship drivatar in 1st. Pole also for Mulegé, where I managed to escape the carnage of low-prestige drivers and come 3rd. I was right behind the drivatars in 1st and 2nd, but there was no chance for me to overtake them. Another solid team performance and I probably got my third BMW 1M.

You may be wondering about the Eventlab events or you might be wondering how stupid YouTubers are when they put “!?” in titles and graphics when it should be “?!” Well, that’s what I’m wondering once again. But what does this have to do with Eventlab? Well, nothing just as I have nothing to do with it because the tiles are dead for a second week running and have not yet come back to life. Possibly when I eventually play the game again today, the tiles will be live.

Wonder no more about Eventlab

Black Sands Truck Ranch looks like a decent little off-road circuit except it was irksome because you’re racing from one checkpoint to another and thumping into walls over blind crests. Props and lighting well done, though.

Like the last time, Super Twisted Noodle Circuit had me worried, but instead, it was a decent layout with some nicely sweeping curves and a small technical section. It feels a bit like Spa in places when you blast up the hills.

I finished the previous series some way past level 800 and with my credits finally maxed out. I’ve almost played FH5 for the same amount of time I’ve played FH4, but the disparity is really a consequence of a long period of doing the daily and nothing else during the week.

Democracy in action… inaction?

At least the Koenigsegg CCGT won the Backstage Pass last week, although I can understand why some people would be miffed that the 8CTF missed out. This week my choices are a.) I don’t care; b.) I still don’t care. Vote as you please. Make at least one forum member happy by doing some research to determine which car is the rarest. Whatever else, this is a terrible way of adding exclusives because if you’ve paid for the game, you expect to be able to win the content. Watch things not change in FH6.

As for the vote for the next series, it reminds me of Adrian Mole when his parents got divorced and neither of them wanted custody of him. Probably the holidays one because I think there’s an accolade from that which I still don’t have and it’s the less offensive of the two. Also, that Winter Wonderland would mean the unwelcome return of that irritating karting track.

Horizon Tour

Good deeds aren’t easy. I was in a cross country series. We’d got to Airfield and I let the player in the FE Puma take the lead. On lap two he got to the second-to-last checkpoint and missed. I went back round to the straight ahead of the hangars and let him take 1st again. What did he do? Missed the same checkpoint in exactly the same fashion. I slowed down ahead of the finish line to let him take the win.

I was in a dirt series with another inexperienced player. The second race was the Baja California Trail. He got off to a good start and I trailed behind without being a threat until he bounced off the wall and I took the lead. I slowed right down after the final corner and had to wait some time for the other player to arrive. Missed checkpoint? He flew past me and was a decent distance ahead. Easy win… However, I could see he was going to do a spin across the line, which he botched, and I took the win. Not the first time I’ve done that.

FH6 release date

All things being equal, I’d predict an October release for FH6 to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the xbox. However, I believe that GTA VI is now meant to be coming out in November, which suggests the possibility of an early autumn release – say, September. I can imagine that MS wants to release the game about the same time as usual rather than bring it forward to summer 2026 or delaying it till spring 2027.
