FH5, Series 53, Week 4
We start the week with #ForcedEngagement, viz. upgrading some Ford Focus on the Test Track (let’s hope this isn’t an exercise which gets repeated in FH6) to win 300 FPs. I have over 144,000, but it was only 142,000 last week. Gods, I’m on my uppers. Spare some FPs, guv?
The weekly in the AR Giulia was straightforward enough, but a drag race? Warum? (he said randomly in German.) Oddly enough I managed to do the drift task, RWD, without making a complete arse of myself in the process.
For the first time in this series, the Eventlab tiles were live from the start. SZ 2.11 was that awful, extended version of Cathedral with garish lighting stolen from a disco c. 1978. Some of the checkpoints were poorly places with respect to the turns beyond them. Well, it could be worse, and was in the form of Ark Seacoast Drift Town. The use of props in this one is excellent, but the circuit leaves much to be desired. As I drive in cockpit view, there are times where I can’t see where the next checkpoint is, and the layout, which looks like a four-leaf clover, does itself no favours. The SWS was rubbish.
I one-shotted the dirt SZ and got a one-third very good SWS, which was followed by a slightly better wheel spin when I levelled up. I also one-shotted the other SZ for a one-third good SWS. The TB took a couple of goes, although I almost had it first time in the Scirocco, but switched to my VW Golf R32, which was a bit faster. Another one-third good SWS.
I took a photo. I got a horn. Parp or what, my little darlings.
Off to the HW theme park to one-shot the ST in a Dodge Challenger… Er, Charger… Er, some boaty Dodge with far too much hp to be sensible. Two-thirds very good SWS.
I also managed to one-shot the RA PR stunt for which I was well rewarded with a rubbish SWS.
For the Trial I used the Audi RS7, the 2013 model, I think. 5th on the human grid for Cordillera and came 3rd. We had a prestige 4 try-hard, who was probably just there to win the race. Round River, I did a last-to-2nd, passing the drivatar in 2nd late on the dirt section on the third lap while somehow (barely) not missing a checkpoint. Feel free to tut and say, “Disgraceful!” I deserve it. I was shepherding the player in 3rd for much of the race, but he was too slow and I wanted to see whether I could still overtake the only drivatar who was in contention for a podium. We won both races, and I got my third 2018 BMW M5.
I see the Hols series won, which is a relief because it’ll be less irritating than Winter Wonderland.
Horizon Tour
Again, not so much of this this week. Half the time I ended up testing cars in races after a series. The closest I came to any good deeds was trailing after inexperienced players in slightly faster cars who insisted on sliding into every wall available, or understeering while I tried not to crash into them.
