FH5, Series 49, Week 1
I started with the weekly challenge in the 2013 Viper GTS. It was remarkable only for being unremarkable. I used the car to deal with the daily (visit the Festival outpost in Copper Canyon) and the photo challenge.
I one-shotted the East Resort ST for a one-third excellent SWS. I one-shotted and PB’ed the Horizon Baja ST. The SWS included the Ferrari F50 GT, which I kept because I couldn’t recall how many I had. I’d forgotten that the answer to Pantano Pass is to do the run from the Mangrove Scramble. I also don’t have many Fords at the top of S1-class. I thought the Mach E might do the job, but in the end it was the Mustang RTR Spec 5. Rubbish SWS.
Like last time, getting the collectibles was a matter of driving along Copper Canyon and smashing the boards.
Rivals week again, but neither Lookout nor Mulegé was a problem.
Eventlab (1). The Backroads. B700 Mitsubishi (i.e., every bloody modern rally seasonal ever). Marks off for night, rain, glare, a misplaced checkpoint, and irritating obstacles. All for a stupid emote.
Eventlab (2). Coastal Town Pro Circuit. Another night race. Terrible layout, terrible road surface. The VW Corrado was not the best car for the job, but would’ve been fine on a properly thought-out circuit. The reward was a sundress. But it gets worse – they don’t even have it in my size.
I one-shotted the HW PR stunt in the Jesko for a one-third very good SWS.
I also managed to one-shot the RA PR stunt in the XPeng, which I believe I’ve now driven for the second time ever. Ultimately, this seemed to be a marketing series for Chinese automotive manufacturers (who, I’d aver, probably paid MS/PGG a bucket load of money for the privilege). If I remember correctly, I felt this series had terrible rewards that didn’t correspond to the sort of trophies you might expect for the game’s 10th anniversary.
The Trial was to drive a stock 2013 Shelby GT500, a fat, overpowered car. What was the Trial PI? A756. What’s the stock car’s PI? A755. Was the game bothered? No. I repainted the car. “Computer says, ‘No’.” What? Yes, stock car must be stock colour or it doesn’t count. Excuse me while I roll my eyes. There, done, eyes rolled. Copper Canyon. Front row, 3rd. The players in 1st and 2nd got well away from me. I assume they were on controllers, hence they weren’t so inconvenienced by this chubby barge of a car. I was also on the front row of Chihuahua and came 2nd in spite of the wet road surface. Trial done.
Backstage Pass vote. Don’t vote for the Hoonigan Mustang. I like the car, but they’re two a penny.
As for the series vote, er… Eenie, meenie, minie, mo…
