FH5, Series 48, Week 4
How could I not two-star that sodding SZ with the Deberti Mustang in one go to complete the treasure hunt? I even came off both bridges. Bloody disgraceful. I now have 110,000FPs. How? I haven’t done 2,000FPs of graft since last week.
The weekly was in the MB 190E, which is not a car I especially like at the best of time in comparison with its near contemporaries. I repainted it in a garish green and slapped a stripe in the colours of the German flag on it. This had nothing to do with the weekly, but the car is rather drab.
The PR stunts were the International Scout with the annoying engine swap to ruin the handling to complete the tasks. I one-shotted the SZ and the ST, but had to do the engine swap for the DS.
Eventlab (1). Lighthouse National Circuit. Marks off for making me waste time going to Eventlab Island. Why can’t we just drive over a bridge to the island? The layout needs to be doubled in size, and the checkpoints kept winking into existence as I went round the circuit. The poor old drivatars [What? ‘Poor old drivatars’?! –ed.] kept getting stuck at the start-finish line, and I ended up lapping most of them. The SWS was one-third good and one-third excellent.
Eventlab (2). Teotihuacán Ruins Restored. In spite of the car classes being classic and retro rally, this is a road race on the game’s worst surface for road racing. The map has some Mesoamerican style to it, although I also thought that you could describe it architecture as brutalist.
The picture for the photo is just a bit up the street from the start of Panorámica.
I ended up doing S1-class cross country for Horizon Open. I was back in my Porsche Macan, expecting the usual roster of inappropriate vehicles alongside me. I was right – apart from someone in a Sterrato. I started at the back in Tropico and came 2nd. Yes, the Sterrato won. I started from the front in Las Ranas and won by 13 seconds. Don’t know what happened to the rest of them. Infantile argie-bargie probably. I was on the front row for Costa Este and came 2nd to a runaway 33 Stradale. A ringer, I think, because the car was on off-road race tyres.
I one-shotted the HW PR stunt in the FE 911 for a rubbish SWS.
I knew that the RA PR stunt was going to be that ST. I did at least get a one-third very good SWS.
The Trial managed to be a pain. I chose the 1998 Supra RZ. In Festival Gatecrash I started on the second row and came 4th, but no one was catching Teagan. Team loss. Cruce del Valle saw the opposite, with a solid team win. I was on the front row and finished 4th. I then quit Bosque del Sur because the chance of the team winning was nil. Also, I was driving badly. ¶ Festival Gatecrash II. Quit. No chance of a team win, and I was still driving like an absolute plonker. Third time lucky? ¶ Festival Gatecrash III: A sequel too far. Started on the front row and came 5th. That first turn probably did it for me on each occasion. The lesser problem was that I was still driving like an ass; the greater problem was the try-hards towing two of the drivatars behind them and being well ahead of the rest of us. I was on the back row for Cruce del Valle and came 3rd. The winner was suspiciously fast, but the job was done.
I see the anniversary series won the vote. I’m guessing the try-hards wanted the AE Viper.
