FH5, Series 35, preview

“Four! Five! Four! Anything you like. Only stop it, stop the pain! … – in all honesty I don’t know.”

Why didn’t we get the Mustang Dark Horse instead of the GT as this was the obvious model to add to FH5 in the first place? Not that I mind the GT, but I have to admit I don’t bother with the (modern) Mustangs in the game because my attention is elsewhere. I hope this is another decent addition to the extensive line-up of Mustangs we already have.

I also hope the wait for the GR Yaris was worthwhile and that it’s a good car on dirt.

Kia… Er, EV… Eerr, SUV… Eeerrr. No, seriously, no. Marketing.

Another Hyundai Ioniq. Still no. Marketing.

What the hell’s a Taycan CT? It looks to be an estate car version of the over gifted, unwanted Taycan. No again. Yes, I know the WP Taycan can be a missile, but this looks like another instance of FH5 as a marketing platform. Where’s the latest 911 GT3 RS?

As for the Universal Icons Car Pack, I see nothing to actually excite me. Three Deloreans is a bit like all those Extreme E cars which only differ by livery. Existing Delorean, three body kits, you’re done. No need for this. Apparently the lights go on at 88mph. If they wanted to impress me, you could set a destination and the car would fast travel when it hit 88mph. All races in the game would then be limited to cars from or before 1959 until you fast travel again. A Jeep from Jurassic Park is unlikely to offer anything that FH5 doesn’t already have. However, K.I.T.T. (two Ts not one as I keep seeing; if you don’t know it’s two, you weren’t there) is a bit a a nostalgia trip for me because Knight Rider was on the telly about the time I was a fresher. It’s a pity it doesn’t switch from one mode to the other while you’re driving.

And as other people have been saying, this is the car pack that ought to have come with the current series. Otherwise it seems a bit random. Out on the 18th, which only means the 18th in the US. So, not the 18th at all.

Series 36

I know Sam from Seen through Glass on YouTube does occasional episodes where he drives some car to get coffee. Is this series being sponsored by <insert brand name here>? I wonder whether we might get a delivery story in which we drive vans whose handling is inversely proportionate to their power just like that awful delivery story in FH4. Or is there going to be another novel car that depends on you buying £10 worth of <insert brand name here> coffee to redeem a code, but you can only get it in coffee-producing countries?

In 2018 Mexico was the world’s 9th largest coffee producer, with Chiapas producing the most and the best. At least there’s a formal link to the setting of the game.

Could this series be about hot hatches as urban coffee carriages?
