FH5, Series 47, Week 1
I drifted down Costa Este for the treasure hunt and still managed over 800,000 points in spite of my lack of practise. I can’t even recall what the treasure was, but suspect that 100,000FPs are not far away.
Nothing much to report about the weekly. I did Marigold for the race, my usual speed zone, and easily hit the speed target.
I one-shotted the DS for a two-thirds good SWS. I PB’ed the ST on the bridge outside Mulegé for another two-thirds good SWS. Took me a couple of attempts to do the SZ because I was too tentative on my first try. The SWS was one-third good.
Eventlab (1). Parametric. Props – full marks. Road surface – pah! Track layout – fine. Choice of cars – inappropriate. Nighttime – all marks deducted for annoying me.
Eventlab (2). Miami Vice Riverside Drive. I went with the Ferrari Challenge Stradale for this one. Props were all right, the layout was fine (but say it in an ironic tone of voice). Nighttime – sodding irritating again. The SWS was one-third good.
The Trial this week was in the near-as-damn-it stock BMW M5. With some clever manipulation, I managed to unlock all the tuning options. I was on the front row for Sierra Verde and managed to get round the right-hander without too many issues. Came 2nd because the player in 1st was clearly faster in a straight line. Team win. I was on the second row for Mulegé and came 3rd because Teagan did her usual thing of flying off into the distance. Team win, but by a less convincing margin, and the player who came 2nd was not the same as the player who won Sierra Verde, whose car was probably all engine and no trousers.
I’d forgotten it was Rivals week. Bola Ocha at night in the Lexus LC500, and Bahía de Plano in the Rimac Nevera, also at night. Hideous, garish neon lights in evidence. What Hell was this? I had to do the second one twice because it didn’t register the first time. I think this might’ve happened on the previous occasion.
I PB’ed the ST in the HW map. I attempted that irksome DZ in the RA map, got nowhere near the target, and decided that it wasn’t worth any further effort.
Did the HA eventually, which got me the Backstage Pass. As far as the vote goes, I rarely ever bother because the choice is between Ugh and Ugh, and in both cases I already have both pairs of Ugh.
As for the series vote, a lot of the more experienced players* were miffed about this month’s choice. On principle I’d vote against anything that results in nighttime races or unnecessary, excessive amounts of night. I’ll also vote against anything that would have yet more ugly, old American cars added to the game. But that’s just me.
Notes
* “More experienced players” – forum members who are probably about 40 years older than the game’s actual target demographic. Yes, that just about includes me.
