FH6, 2nd and 3rd sessions

2nd session

I spent awhile searching for the location of the Figaro. I expect everyone else was rolling their eyes and saying none too quietly, “Old person problems.” I thought it might be on the island, and then the foreshore, and then up the coast road until I returned to the foreshore. The car park faces south looking, in fact, towards the bridge where is turns east to the island.

I did much better at finding the GT40, which is on the cape near the space port.

As for the bonus board on top of the assembly building in the space port, if you take the jump from the road at about 140-45kmh, you should land on the roof without too much bother.

I did the Daikoku Circuit in the GR86, but ought to have upgraded the car (which I’ve now done). This was followed by Daikoku Chase (Street Scene), which is another course I need to get used to. I did another Street Scene race, Kita Ine, in the Silvia K’S. I thought the drivatars were being a little inconsistent, but managed to win. This led to Pier Pressure, which I managed to two-star. I was seven seconds short of the target time, but thought I didn’t do too badly for my first attempt on an unfamiliar, novelty circuit. That got me my green wristband.

City Docks Cross-country seems to be a misnomer unless we’re now using cross-country to include any circuit that isn’t on asphalt or a dirt track. I used the Evo VI again, but needed to have built and tuned it (again, I’ve now done that, but ought to have done it sooner).

I managed to track down three barn finds, the Sierra Cosworth, the NSX GT-R, and the Toyota 2000 GT.

I did the first Raku Raku challenge, which was fairly straightforward with A to B to collect the delivery, and then B to C, not dropping below 145kmh for too long. Same old same old, methinks.

As an aside, the traffic. Denser than before with the AI showing drivatar levels of stupid. As I approach a corner, there’s AI traffic ahead of me. What does it do? a.) Turn the corner. b.) Stop abruptly and cause me to crash into it. The answer is b.) The traffic cars also like to crash into each other and may – possibly without human intervention – be able to completely block the road as I discovered on one of my outings.

Perks are still rubbish and now include threading-the-needle skills. Why?

3rd session

I decided to follow the game’s suggestions to level up. I also spent sometime upgrading cars, although also not pay attention to their stats and miss the chance to tune them properly.

The Taiyaki Scramble was another decent circuit race in the Evo VI. This unlocked the 2020 Supra, and the accompanying wheel spin gave me the Fiat Abarth 131, which is one of my favourite rally cars.

As for tuning, the gear graph is much clearer now that the lines a finer. They were too thick in FH5. It also seems that when you adjust the gears using a keyboard, they don’t suddenly and randomly accelerate.

My next race was the Kinkaku-ji Trail. Nothing worth mentioning. Why, I wonder, does the game have two-lap road races, but three-lap scrambles?

I should’ve upgraded the 2017 Focus RS for the Festival Sprint since the stock tuning is 1.5/9 (the 0.5 is half the diff settings). As I went to the start of the race, there was an impressive night-time view of Tokyo from the hills.

I used the WP F-150 Raptor for Temple Cross-country, but again forgot about the stats so that I could tune the car. Also, the thing has ten gears. In real life, I’m sure that’s useful; in this game, it’s a nuisance. I won by a sliver, with the drivatars still doing what they always do in cross-country races.

Still in a stock GR86 for Tokyo Railway Sprint. There were some interesting technical sections, and I raced against HokiHoshi’s drivatar.

Finally, having tuned the Evo VI, I did Chiheisen Scramble. I let the game bump the drivatars up to Highly Skilled. It was just like, say, River Scramble or other dirt scrambles in FH5, with me well outpacing the drivatars.

I’ve been trying to smash mascots and bonus boards as I drive round the map. I wonder what the point of the bonus boards is since fast travel is free once you’ve been to a place. I assume there’s another accolade to be unlocked.

I ended the session having unlocked the race against the mecha.
