FH5, The Huracáns

 It’s all about the PWR.

Now that we have the Huracán STO in FH5, I thought I’d try building all of them to S1 900 and racing them round the Horizon Festival Circuit over five laps. It did not go well in that the 2014 Huracán had the most scope for modification, while the STO had the least and drove like a pig.

It was a good example of why the PI system in Horizon games is so appalling because S1 900 ≠ S1 900. The 2014 Huracán had a power-to-weight ratio (PWR) of 0.498, but the STO could only manage 0.418 to hit the same PI. (Aside: in FH4, the game is all metric, but in FH5, I have power set to hp, but the rest is metric; the PWR figure still provides the same sort of information.)

I did a little experiment in FH4 this morning, building the Huracán and the Huracán Performante to nearly the same PWR, the former being 0.478 to the latter’s 0.477, and racing them in the Colossus. Al­though I took some corners a little badly in the Performante, it was only about two seconds slower than the 2014 Huracán. In other words, the performance was less disparate than it had been buy building all the cars to the same PI.

This afternoon it was the turn of the Huracáns in FH5 to be built to a similar PWR. The 2014 Huracán (S2 921) set the baseline with a PWR of 0.595 and a time of 05:07.940 for five laps of the Horizon Festival Circuit (HFC). The Performante (S2 943) ended up with a PWR of 0.596 and a time of 05:04.180 round the HFC. I managed to get the Huracán Evo (S2 931) to 0.595 and a time of 05:04.313. And lastly, the Huracán STO (S2 952) had a PWR of 0.594 and a time of 05:02.555 round the HFC.

It was also the most convincing showing I’ve had out of the STO so far, which has kept ending up in races where the drivatars seem to have been eating Weetabix for breakfast. I did the HW Goliath, but forgot to add race weight reduction to the car. It took over a lap for me to take first place through the Corkscrew (yes, I pinched the name from Laguna Seca; it’s that turn ahead of the straight across the snowfield that leads to the loop), and I merely managed to retain first place rather than run away with it.

But that wasn’t really the worst off it. I then added race weight reduction to the build and redid the race. This time I trailed behind a 911 GT3 RS, had the Vūhl come screaming past me for a time, followed by the MG6 and the Lynk doing the same, sending me back to 4th place before I eventually managed to take the lead. Again, I didn’t run off into the lead for what remained of the race. (New feature: the game DNFs the drivatars in fairly short order; previously, you could wait several minutes for them to complete the race.)

I also tried the Huracán RWD with some upgrades, but apart from rather good turning, it got bullied and pestered again round the HW Goliath. It wasn’t till this afternoon that I had a decent race in it.

The gears bug has been fixed, and I even managed to complete an HA a couple of days ago. Con­nec­ti­vi­ty seems to have been a bit better, but I’m still getting disconnected, albeit less frequently. I see, though, that we have to do an HA for the final daily challenge of the season. What clown thought that was a good idea?

However, my attempts to get the new Audi to show itself in a race have continued to fail.
